Flat head syndrome is a common condition that affects many babies. If your child has flat head syndrome that's caused by a sleeping or lying position, there is a lot you can do at home to help treat it. Here are some steps you can take:
1. Change the head position while your baby sleeps. Reposition your baby's head (from left to right, right to left) when your baby is sleeping on the back. Alternate positions in the crib.
2. Switch positions while your baby sleeps. One way is to simply move his head from one end of the crib to another on alternate rest periods.
3. Give your baby at least 30 minutes of supervised tummy time every day when he's awake, starting as soon as he comes home from the hospital.
4. Engage in lots of supervised playtime while your baby lies on his or her tummy.
5. Change your baby’s position in the crib often by reversing the position of the head and feet, so your baby isn’t always resting on the same part of the head.
I hope this helps!
